Final Thoughts on Prague

One word sums up my trip to Prague, magnificent.

What an amazing city. So many beautiful structures all over the place with a lot of history behind them all. Even though Prague is the first place I have stopped on my trip, it will definitely be hard to beat. I mean come on, it is known as the city where beer is cheaper than bottled water…

If you do happen to make it to Prague here is a list of some places to go check out:

-Prague Castle and the St. Vitus Cathedral (absolutely stunning architecture and stained glass windows).

-Old town square (Staroměstské náměstí). Check out the medieval astronomical clock, Prague Orloj.

=Side note: I recommend waking up around 7-8AM to walk across the bridge and up to the castle, because after about 10-10:30AM both are completely packed with other tourists and who wants random tourists ruining a perfect selfie opportunity?

-Crêperie U Kajetána a delicious place for breakfast crepes (order the banana and chocolate and you will not be disappointed).

-The Strahov Monastic Brewery and the Matuška Brewery located at the monastery near the castle (great place to stop for lunch after touring the castle).

-Hike up to the Petřín Lookout Tower, climb the 300+ stairs and take some great panoramic photos of the entire city. It is definitely worth it.

-Visit the old fortress, Vyšehrad and reward yourself with a fresh cold pivo (beer) at the nearby beer garden, Hospudka Na Hradbach. Na zdravi! (cheers!)

-The John Lennon wall was recently painted white on the anniversary of the end of communism. An organization stated that they erased the old paintings to inspire the next generation to make their mark. Unfortunately not all people who decided to paint on the wall chose to draw or write meaningful things. However I did find several quotes that I really liked.

-The alchemy museum had some fascinating legends of different famous alchemists living in Prague. If you have the time I would recommend checking it out, but if not, don’t sweat it.

-A definite pit stop would have to be the Prague Beer Museums. We checked out all three and two of them are bars with about 20 different types of beer on tap. The third one was the actual museum where you could take a tour of the museum, but we ran out of time for that so we had 5 flights instead.

-There are around 50-75 beer gardens throughout the entire city. A already mentioned the one in Vyšehrad. Also checkout the Letná Beer Garden. It arguably has one of the best views of Prague. It is a green, leafy oasis perfect for enjoying a beer in the summer. Located inside Letná Park, (Letenské Sady), which is a beautiful, popular city park running along the bank of the Vltava river overlooking Staré Město. – See more at: Prague Beer Gardens

Transportation is really easy throughout Prague. There are 3 main subway lines and trams go just about everywhere. Many tourists rent or pay for segway/bike/e-bike tours and you see them all over town. Overall I was amazed by this historic city and it was surprisingly very clean. One of my favorite things about Prague is how there are many parks all over the city (some are small while others are pretty large and have spectacular views). Definitely add this place to your travel list.
